Interval ear training
Hear two notes, name the interval.
- 10 to 15 short answers, including repeat practice. Only first answers count toward the score.
- Number keys pick answers, Enter continues.
What this drill covers
The first level is the four easiest intervals going up: major second, major third, perfect fifth and octave. Next come the minor third, perfect fourth, major sixth and minor second. Then the same intervals are played together like a chord, and the last level adds the minor sixth, sevenths and the tritone.
Why it helps
Hearing intervals helps you pick out a tune you heard, catch wrong notes while practicing, and understand why a chord sounds bright or sad.
Each round is 10 to 15 questions. Notes you miss come back sooner, notes you know come back later, and the next level opens once most of the current one sticks.
