Why Pianory

Sheet music should not be a wall between you and the song. Hear it first, learn one hand, then put them together.

How it works

One song, a little every day.

  1. 01

    Pick a piece

A starter piece, or a file you already have.

  2. 02

    Hear it first

The score plays and the keys light up for each hand.

  3. 03

    One hand at a time

Slow down, mute the other hand, loop the hard bar.

  4. 04

    Hands together

Build up the tempo, a little every day.

Everything on one stage

Every tool you reach for. None of the clutter.

Made for an iPad on the music stand.

Learn to read notes, a few minutes a day

29 short lessons, and drills that come back at the right time. Always free.

One hand at a time

Keys light blue for the right hand, amber for the left.

Loop the tricky bars

Repeat it until your fingers know it.

Do Re Mi or C D E

Note names on the score, in the system you learned.

Metronome on, or piano off

Turn on the metronome to stay steady, or mute the piano and play along.

Chord sheets that scroll

Lyrics and chords (ChordPro) move at your tempo, hands free.

Works without Wi-Fi

Install it like an app and practice anywhere. Save one piano sound set for all 88 keys: about 6 MB on touch devices, or 20 MB with five sound levels based on how hard you press the keys.

Open what you already have

MusicXML and MIDI play with sound and a moving cursor. A PDF opens as pages to read with a practice timer and metronome.

Questions

A few things worth knowing first.

Do I need a real piano?

Not to start. Lessons and drills have a keyboard right on the screen. For songs, a piano or keyboard next to you helps: Pianory plays the part and you play along.

What are the limits on the free plans?

Lessons and drills are always free, with no limits. A guest can save up to 5 songs total, including sample songs, and make 1 list. A new guest library starts with 3 sample songs, leaving 2 slots for your own songs. Guests can practice songs for 20 minutes a day. A free account saves 30 songs and 5 lists, with 60 minutes of song practice a day.

How do I get it ready for offline use?

Open Pianory once while you are online, ideally after installing it as an app. After that, lessons, drills, starter pieces and the songs you saved open without a connection. Piano sound downloads note by note as you play. In Settings, under Piano sound on this device, tap Download all to save sounds for all 88 keys offline: one piano sound set on touch devices (about 6 MB), or five sound levels based on how hard you press the keys on other devices (about 20 MB).

Where is my data kept without an account?

In the browser on the device you are using. Clearing that browser data removes it. When you create an account, you can move it over so it syncs across devices.
